The City of London Corporation runs the Sustainable City Awards, a prestigious responsible business awards scheme. Last year we introduced a new Health and Wellbeing Award to recognise businesses that do outstanding or innovative work to promote the health of their workforce. We want to celebrate the employers across the City, London and the UK who are committed to making sure their workers are healthy, happy and productive.
In 2015 Nomura was the first winner of the Health and Wellbeing Award. Nomura is an investment bank whose European HQ is based in the City of London, and they are doing some truly innovative work in this area. Nomura demonstrated how they have built up a compelling business case for investing in their company wellness offering, with a focus on emotional wellbeing and mental health as well as physical health. Our runner-up was WWF, who showed us that their new Living Planet Centre was not only a sustainable building, but also an exceptionally healthy workspace with a Wellbeing Programme targeted at improving staff health and wellbeing.
The Sustainable City Awards are open to all types of organisations from the private, public and third sectors.
