Mental Health Awareness Week Events in the City

This year, Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 13 May – 19 May. By uniting communities, organisations, and individuals through events and educational opportunities, Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 strives to foster a society where every individual’s mental well-being is prioritised and supported. See below for a range of events and activities from mental health related panel discussions and webinars, to stress-busting activities such as walking tours and yoga:

MOVING FOR MENTAL HEALTH: Breakfast Panel Discussion

Guildhall, Tuesday 14 May 2024, 8.30am – 11.00am

It has often been recognised that being active is important in supporting strong mental health and wellbeing. Guests will hear from speakers about their experiences of how movement, of all levels, can intersect with mental wellbeing. There will be an opportunity to ask questions to our panel, as well as network after the event. This event is invitation only and places are strictly limited. Any organisation in the City of London is welcome to nominate two representatives to attend, especially those involved in mental health, wellness, fitness and other related areas. We will send out formal invitations to those nominated, dependent on capacity.

Moderated by: Anastasia Vinnikova (UK Head of Workplace Wellbeing, Mind Forward Alliance)

Speakers include: Sam Cumming (Head of Mental Health, UK Sports Institute), Isabelle Clement MBE (Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Wheels for Wellbeing), Leo Savage (Head of Global Wellbeing, Howden Insurance Brokers)

Thrive LDN Webinar: the Cost-of-Living Crisis and the Ethnicity Premium

Led by Money A+E, the webinar will explore the impact of the cost-of-living-crisis on people’s mental health in the community and workplace, as well as explaining what the Ethnicity Premium is and the impact this is having on racialised and marginalised communities.

The webinar will be held online on Thursday 16 May from 12pm to 12:45pm.

BREATHING SPACES: Walking tour of the hidden gardens of the City of London

Guildhall Yard, Several Tuesdays and Thursdays in May, 6.00pm – 7.00pm

A limited edition, free guided walk run by City of London Guides in partnership with the City of London Corporation to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. Wind down after work, take a break from the rush hour and clear your head by joining this leisurely evening walk around some of the green spaces within the Square Mile that are open to everyone. Combining history and horticulture this guided walk takes in a monastic garden created for healing, an Elizabethan style knot garden, a meadow created by volunteers during Covid and the most recently opened public space in the City.

If you are part of a mental health or wellness network at your workplace or elsewhere, this could be a fantastic way to bring your colleagues together to explore the City. We aim to make our tours as accessible as possible but there are some uneven surfaces.

Book your place here.
